We’re 21 days out from the BIG day – November 3, 2020 – otherwise known as The Day of Reckoning. I regularly purge my spam folder, largely because its contents are ridiculous appeals for money from the dark side. I reported a couple of months ago that this group thought I was William and ultra-conservative. Then, for a little while, I was addressed as “Friend” while being urged to not allow the rabid socialists to take over the country. Now, I am a mix of William and Friend, and the pleas are sounding desperate. Many of them are boasting a 500% match! Emergency! Emergency!
“Don’t be the reason we lose.” (NRCC)
“Dems raise $500 million to stop us.” (Martha McSally)
“I wish I was more optimistic, friend.” (Newt Gingrich)
“If you don’t want to see the Senate in Schumer’s liberal, tax-raising hands, then I need you to stand with my campaign right now.” (Susan Collins)
“$10” (Tim Scott)
“Socialism Without Consequence” (Senate Conservatives)
“I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t urgent” (Mike Lindell via GOP House Conservatives)
Now, the same mechanisms are urging me to donate NOW to the Biden-Harris campaign, to support Democratic Senate candidates in hotly contested races. But that side of the aisle has not ever referred to me as William. Without me providing their database with all my information, they have consistently referred to me as “Friend.” I delete their emails, too. But they don’t automatically go into SPAM, either, which I find curious.
I find it curious because I did not actively select which stay in my inbox and which go to the spam folder.
Frankly, the entire group associated with this inept, disgraceful and dangerous administration can automatically be put into trash. Bypass spam altogether. If as many people who are enraged and exhausted ensure their ballots are cast, we may indeed be able to put the garbage where it belongs and move on to the hard work of taking care of the citizens of our nation. There’s a novel idea, right there.
I look forward to revisiting the spam folder post-election and see the usual contents: massive savings on anti-bacterial wipes, do you qualify for a concealed carry permit, magical weight loss….
My final message is this (for today, at least):
Make sure you are registered to vote. And then make sure you vote.
That is all.
