One of the benefits of being safe at home is time to reflect, learn and grow. To go inward and examine how we process change, face our fears and move forward. How to capitalize on inner strengths and how to more fully express them for the benefit of others. How to reduce the level of uncertainty and maintain some semblance of order while the entire world changes around us. How to keep a positive outlook when circumstances conspire to present obstacles. How to stay emotionally and spiritually nourished during this moment of physical distancing.
I’ve taken this time to record my thoughts here, to enjoy the time with my family as we are forced to be together, to establish regular video contact with my extended family and my friends. I’m job hunting and trying to accomplish that while assisting in the transition of my current duties. With a positive outlook.
I’ve been “attending” Whitney Johnson’s daily live LinkedIn broadcast entitled “Calm Amidst the Chaos” So many wonderful nuggets of how to cope and make the most of this time of global disruption.
Yesterday’s broadcast was about identifying your superpowers and your purpose to step back in order to grow into who you are meant to be:
To find your superpower, ask your friends why they hang out with you. “You” statements will reveal your superpower. To understand your purpose, continue pressing until they switch to “I” statements about you will reveal your purpose. How do you know your values are? Look at quotes and lyrics of songs that you love, that you live by. What do they say about you and what you value?
Here’s two of mine. What are yours?
“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” – Dieter F. Uchtdorf
“That which you focus on, becomes your reality.” – Ben Mikaelsen
What have you been using this time to reflect on? Have you begun your journey of self-disruption?
