Happy Monday, everyone! It’s day number 15 of this new way of living. My daily excitement is going out first thing in the morning and walking 2.5 miles as the world comes to life. If I am lucky, I get a leisurely stroll in after dinner. Current estimates are that we could be safe at home until late May, possibly into June. I am grateful that there is a backyard, a back porch, fields and paths to escape to – at a safe distance, of course. Yesterday afternoon, my family got together over video, to catch up on the week’s happenings, their recommendations for Netflix viewing and new hobbies. It seems the entire family has a penchant for murder mysteries. Is this genetic, along with the shape of our noses and the cut of our chins? The recommendations this week were The Shetland Murders and The Valhalla Murders. I am not sure when I will have the opportunity to watch them myself, but I am hoping I will get to them eventually. It’s when we talk about the books we’re reading and shows we are watching that I am acutely aware that all of these folks are retired! I have at least another 15 years!
Tomorrow, I am hoping for sunshine and a walk or two to break up the day. And that I locate another two or three attractive job descriptions to apply for. I hope that the kids are able to find time to get outside to get fresh air. I hope that we are able to find our way to a kinder, more egalitarian world when this is all done.
What are you hoping for when the Era of Social Distancing is over?
