Life In The Era of Social Distancing

Day # 700 – Waiting

Today is a balmy 36 degrees – a few days this week were in the single digits, before a storm blew in last night bringing high winds, rain and warmer temps, if that is what we are calling them.

Thankfully I can rest one more day; the COVID fatigue and brain fog are real things. Geoffrey is finally testing negative, so we’re just waiting for me to be virus-free.

We dropped the damaged vehicle off at the body shop this morning, so we will be waiting to see what the insurance company will cover, and then we’ll be waiting for the repair to be done.

It’s only January, so there’s plenty more winter to come. So we are now waiting through the cold weather months for spring to come. I’m waiting for a more temperate weekend to take down the outdoor holiday decorations.

The heron, it seems, didn’t want to leave, and is suffering through frigid temperatures. I don’t think I have seen him here this far into winter before. He’s waiting for frogs and fish, no doubt.

It’s snowing now, flurries outside the window, while I am warm and cozy in the house. Pretty and peaceful.  Soon, I will be making a nice soup for dinner. And then we’ll be waiting for that to be done, too.

Life is really a series of moments, and a lot of waiting. And when you’re done waiting for one thing, there is something else to wait for.

I’m ready for spring.
